Cause of Death Help

Post by And It Makes Me Shine » Wed Aug 23, 2006 11:03 am

I have uploaded a death extract for Margaret Gallacher and I am looking for some help in deciphering it please?

wee note: if uploading an image for deciphering it helps us if the whole page is uploaded - this lets us see the style of the writing, and should provide several examples of how the letters are formed by that person & this, in the end should result in a quicker & possibly more accurate deciphering result for you! :D

It looks to me like phthisis which was an early term for tuberculosis.

Hmmm.....

I see "Phlebitis, consequent on an injury of indecipherable, - 10 days, - as certified by ............."

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phlebitis

I would say: "Phlebitis, consequent on an injury of the ankle"

Best wishes

Yup...I agree with the Phlebitis and ankle diagnosis. Possible certified by Wm? Naismith? MD? who last saw her on the 19th Nov 1857.

Best wishes

Thank You everyone.

Just for the record

"Phlebitis is an inflammation of a vein, usually in the legs"
