I having trouble trying to find a death certificate and was wondering if anyone could help me?
I am looking for a John Jones, Born 1854 Kilmallie (Ft William), Argyll
He married a Mary Riddell in 1878 in Dennistoun, Lanark
They are in the 1901 census in Dalmarnock, Barony, Glasgow
The parents of John were, James Jones (d.1873) & Mary McLachlan (d.1899)
The parents of Mary were, James Riddel and Janet Newall/Newell.
I also know that John was a Policeman for a period of time and then a Hall door porter in 1901.
I have tried a few times to find a DC but it is always the wrong one.
Both are alive in 1911 as they are not down as deceased on the marriage cert of their daughter Grace (Govanhill) .

Hi Andy
The easy approach isn't working so far as a DC for Mary RID*L JONES does not seem to exist. That usually helps narrow up the search for the husband so you know whether he was living or dead when the wife dies. Sooooooo.....next question is have you tracked down all their children to try and determine a better death window. You believe it to be after 1911 but were there other marriages or deaths of children that might help here? I note that in 1881 they had a son.....did he survive and have you located his records?
Dwelling: 71 Mc Kechnie Street

Mary JONES M 26 F Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

James JONES 2 M Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment but will look in again on this thread this evening. Let's hope you or someone gets a few more clues without having to hammer through all the John JONES
!
Best wishes
Jean

I havent checked any of his sons. He does have alot more in 1901 census.
The thing is with the amount of Jones' it makes it much harder to track down. I will look later on today during my lunch hour.

John Jones & Mary Jones Riddell
I have had a look at the deaths in Victoria Australia for John and Mary
1902-1985
They are not in the index
Just in case they may have decided emigrate.
Cheers

Pam,
Thanks for Trying. I have no idea where they have gone. I have searched about half the John Jones' on SP and not found my one. Wasted credits.

Ok I may have an explanation why I cannot find a Death Certificate for these two people. That is that they may have moved south of the border to England but more likely Wales.
I was speaking to my mother's aunt and she mentioned that they might have moved to Wales.
Is it possible for anyone to do a look at English records for me please?
