Hi:)
Just waiting for confirmation on the uploaded DC which contains both Robert & Mary's (nee Duncan) Chapman deaths, 5 days apart. I can't read the handwritten info next to Robert's entry, nor over the cause of death. For Mary I can't read her mom's maiden name.

It's so often a question of knowing what to expect
On the left
Clerical Error
Col[umn]six
M?DL - (the Examiner's initials)
.........Ex[aminer]
The cause of death has been altered so that the first letter of ?ight (slight??) has been changed to an R for Right
As for the maiden name in his wife's entry, I'd vote for Keay.

On Robert's entry the notation seems to read Clerical error Col 6 where the first letter has been changed to an "R". Cause of death Senile Debility "R"ight ?Hemiplegia? for 9 days.
I think Mary's mother could be either Reay or Keay. Her cause of death looks like ?Valvular? disease 2 years Cardiac ?Dropsy? 3 months.

McDonald or MacDonald (some couldn't make up their mind!), Bonner, Crichton, McKillop, Campbell, Cameron, Gitrig (+other spellings), Clark, Sloan, Stewart, McCutcheon, Ireland (the surname)

Hi Dennis
She died of Valvular disease of the heart for 2 years
Cardiac Dropsy for 3 months
Robert died of Senile debility Eight (presumably years)
and Hemiplegia for 9 days
A bit of a blessing really after his wife's death presumably with no one else to take care of him.
What a fortunate find though - two certificates for the price of one.
Just think though. She, with a failing heart, had looked after a failing, wandered, half paralysed husband for 2 years with no back-up system to help.
Glad we have the NHS for all its reputed faults.

Hi again Dennis
Forgot to say Jane Duncan's maiden name was Keay. There are quite a few of them in the Fife area if my memory serves me. More often written as Kay now.
