where is the burial place of alexander jeffrey?.....

Post by laineywoo » Sat Sep 16, 2006 11:20 pm

Hi Folks
Just tryed leaving a message and uploading this cert with no joy, so if it appears twice, my sincere apologies.
Can anyone tell me what it says the burial place is for Alexander Jeffrey. I keep seeing it as Church of dr mcfarlanes aunties house, which I am sure is not right  Any suggestions?
Many thanks
Elaine

lainey - I've added the image URL here, but if you have the original .tif image from SP that would be even better - I'm finding this image is a bit small to be able to make out what it says. Best wishes, Lesley

As Lesley said perhaps the original tif file would make it easier to read. I tried downloading it and reading it in a different image viewer, and even playing around with the image but I'm afraid I cant make it out.

Hi Elaine:

I've also tried to have a look at your doc in alternate media readers, but the original file appears to be out of focus.

Stewie is right in suggesting the original SP file be uploaded. Blue ink and print are harder to decipher in copies and the yellow highlight can completely mask the text in some instances.

Hi
I'm glad its not just me seeing Dr McFarlane lol It is def Falkirk, but I just havent a clue as to what this is....or who the heck was Dr McFarlane? Is it not a bit weird??? I dont live too far from Falkirk and I have never heard of anything like this.
It is a fab cert though, all sorts of info was gathered not only the children but how long he lived in Shieldhill etc, wish they were all like that.

Hi Anne
Thanks for that, I think you sent it to my home email previously, [were we both not looking at Galloways?]. Anyway, most appriciated.
Having another look through I wondered if it could have poss been something like part of the Salvation Army or something similar? My only thought is though, would they then not use the cemetaries that werent attatched to church of scotland, like Grandsable and Camelon? I have to confess to not being v religous and so very ignorant of the way they all work......

Have a look at this site...

http://www.falkirklocalhistorysociety.c ... .php?id=65

After the 2nd picture there is a paragraph about a church which became known as the Meeting House.

Might be worth further investigation?
