271 west muir st glasgow.....

Hi everyone,
I am researching my family tree, and i am needing some help please.I have came across the death record of an Isaac Watson, he died at 271 West Muir st Glasgow 1910 aged 70
Isaac was married to a Susannah/Susan Johnstone. the death was registered by his son William Watson.
I am looking for help with finding out about their descendants, if possible, anything however small.
Also could someone tell me where West muir street is or was ?.

To find descendants, your best bet would be a visit to Park Circus in Glasgow or NRH in Edinburgh as the more recent records are not available on line.

Could this be Westmuir Street?

Lesley's map is correct. Westmuir Street is in Parkhead, Glasgow.
I will be passing there tomorrow and will see if 271 is still there. A lot of the old tenement buildings have been demolished.

The death of wife Susan can be found in 1924 and the informant is yet another son named Robert. He appears with the family on the 1901 census with an age of 9. Robert was residing in Glasgow at 26 Garbraid Ave in 1924.

This family is found to be continually on the move through the various census returns however you can pick up the name of a son in law with them in 1901 that could help you track down the line of one of their daughters.

Hi Jean, Thanks for that,they are definately my Watson family, i have them on 1901 census but couldnt find them on 1881,i have quite a bit of information on the Watson family,stuck on the Wilson side they too were travellers.
Jane Watson married James Wilson in 1907 in Glasgow, James parents were Thomas Wilson and Margaret Jamieson, i cant find any records at all for Thomas and Margaret, i think they must have traveeled a lot more than the Watson,s.

Ok...how about this.....James Wilson's mum died in Paisley in 1919. Gotta use the wildcards to get her though....I searched on

Surname: "Jam*son"; Forename: "Ma*g*"; Other Surname: "Wilson"; Sex: "Female"; Year From: 1907; Year To: 1925;

and there were only 3 results and the first one is yours.

You get the bonus of a daughter as informant too!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you about 271 Westmuir Street. I had a look and unfortunately this close (the whole block in fact) has been demolished and new houses are in place. The backs of the new houses face into Westmuir Street so there are no numbers.
