Joseph Brooks and Isabella Connell

Hi everyone, I am looking for any information about Joseph Brooks who married an Isabella Connell, they were married in Glasgow in 1901,Iknow that Joseph,s sister Elizabeth married Isabella,s brother James.
Any information most welcome.

Do you already have a copy of the marriage entry? If not that might be your first port of call for ages of the bride and groom, addresses, names of parents etc. The 1901 census would also be worth checking on.

A quick search on SP reveals a marriage of a Harvey Brooks & a Margaret Mason in Lanark(shire) in 1873 - looks likely to be your ones.

Not seeing a Harvey Brooks in 1881 census though, suspect he is hiding under an odd transcription, maybe....

Wonder if Joseph's father Harvey was as John in 1881? Or just wrongly written or transcribed?
And a possible for Isabella's parents in that year too.
No harm in checking these family names.
The 1891 & 1901 censuses from SP might be useful to confirm if these below are yours.

Hi Flora,

It's Christine (the Dawson Connection).

Jack's find on the 1881 census for the Brooks family is the right one. I have the SP entry for Eliza's birth at 46 Bright Street in 1879. Her birth cert. gives her name as Eliza Ann Brooks.

By the 1891 census, Harvey is living with Eliza and Daniel. Interestingly, there is also a Sabina/Jabina? Brooks living with them. She is shown as a Scholar but I can't make out the age. Eliza's mother must have died in the years between.

Eliza died on 1st June 1940, aged 61 years, at 72 Benjamin Street, Glasgow. James registered the death.
