Cost of BMD certificates!

Post by boland » Thu Oct 26, 2006 1:31 am

Hello

Ive was going to request some birth certificates for the 1920's in Aberdeen when looking at their prices they were outrageous- £25 and wait 15 working days, went up more if you wanted them sooner- this geneaology business is getting very expensive. Anyone feel the same?

much cheaper in Hamilton though 13 quid, paying to view information/records that turn out to be your own family who have helped to compile the records in the first place grrr

Council's fleecing you even more

Is this Aberdeen in Scotland?, - if so this is a rip-off price, maybe via a third party, - see http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/h ... flet2.html for current prices direct from GROS in Edinburgh.

And if a non-legal copy is OK, then for births 1855 - 1905, marriages 1855 - 1930, and deaths 1855 to 1955, a paltry £1 will get you the digitised image on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk .
