Need info from Birth Reg.

Post by Davedix » Tue Nov 14, 2006 2:52 am

ScotlandsPeople index says there is one match image for the birth of Agnes Ann THOMSON born 1887 in Clackmannan, Alloa. I am sure Agnes was the daughter of unmarried Marjory THOMSON. I believe the father was Thomas SNOWDON. likely the Registration would show his name but since I have no other registrations to buy from SP and think $13.00 is a little much to confirm it. Is there any other way?
Thank you. Dave.

Hi Dave,

If this is the only Scots person in your family tree, the other items that may be available to you within your $13 are the census pages showing (potentially) the mother and child in 1891 and 1901. Assuming your searches to each be right first time than they can all be done within 30 ScotlandsPeople credits.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Dave.

It appears from this entry in the IGI, that someone thinks along the same lines as you.

AGNES ANN FENWICK THOMSON
Female
Birth: 31 JUL 1887 Alloa, Clackmannan, Scotland
Death: 11 APR 1936

Parents:
Father: THOMAS WILLIAM SNOWDON Family
Mother: MARJORY THOMSON

Source Information:
Batch Number: 8407905
Sheet: 64
Source Call No.: 1395744 Type: Film

This info has been submitted to the IGI by a member of the LDS Church, and is available on the above film; BUT, you won't get to see a copy of the original registration, as you would on ScotlandsPeople.

Hope this helps, somewhat.

Hi Davedix
I had some spare credits and had a look at the original at GROS but there is no mention of a fathers name and no note of a corrected entry either.
Aw the best and happy huntin'

Hi Andrew, Frances and Roy; Thank you for taking the time to reply to my query. I have now sought information from Talking Scot several times and found it to be one of the best sources, - - - even to spending SP credits on my behalf - - very kind of you Roy. Dave.

Roy: Would it be possible (or permissable) to Email me the birth reg. as an attachment? Dave.
