i have hit a big big brick wall according to my grandmothers death certificate june 1952 anne thornton (mcshane) her mothers name was norah mchale i have been unable to find anything on nora mchale however my uncle said her name was honor flynn i was thinking maybe she remarried if my great grandfather died young he was born in mayo and so was she as far as i know .but i think they went scotland my gran went to scotland (fife) when she was ten she went into service.my gran was married 1922 in bothwell

thank you very much i am not very good at this how would i know for sure its her family what i do know for sure she married john thornton of mayo i beleive he lived around foxford mayo some how i dont think this is honor mchale who married john as there first child agnes was born about 1890,tom about 1899 also saw 1892? anne 1894,kate 1896,norah 1898?
pat 1900? this is about all i know

Hello and welcome Jean,

Have you looked for your Gran's marriage entry on Scotlands People?

There is an Ann Thornton married a McShane in 1922. Could this be her?
If so it should tell you her mother's name and whether she was alive or not.

hello annette this is my grandmother i will tell you what the problem is on grans death certificate it has john thornton her father her mother is norah mchale whom i know nothing about. but on the information my uncle sent he has honor flynn john and norah (honor) all came from mayo

thank you annette for getting back to me i dont have a copy of her wedding certificate all i know she married 1922 in the district of st bernard edinborough she was twenty eight when she married daniel mcshane looks like her address was 19 south learmonth looks like jardene edinborough father john thornton mother norah mchale hope this helps i am not very good at searching as i am not sure when they are the correct ones. many thanks for your help
