Post by flora » Sat Nov 25, 2006 8:07 pm

Hi everyone,I am looking for information about a Robert Mcluckie and an Isabella Blair, they were married in 1873 in Lanarkshire.
Roberts parents were Andrew Mcluckie and Elizabeth Blyth.
Isabella,s mother was also Isabella Blair no mention of father on marriage certificate.
What i need help with are finding the children of this couple,i know that they had 2 children.Andrew born 1875 born Glasgow and Jane born 1877 Glasgow,I am wondering if this was there only children or if they had any more.
Any help most welcome
Regards Flo

Hi Flo

This is one where IGI stops being useful as they only have Andrew listed and nothing after 1875.
Some kind soul who has the BVRI discs might oblige with a quick look or you may have to take a trip all the way to Glasgow ( :D ) to search the records yourself at Park Circus.
Who knows, you might meet some our posters there ?

Hi Flo
Have you tried the 1881 census? You might be able to catch them with a few kids at tht time, perhaps, followed by 1891 too to see if there are any still at home then.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Flo

So far all my secretive ones have hidden under odd transcriptions in the census.

Have you tried M*c*l*ck*. I can't think of other names that combination would catch but it should pick up where they have been entered as MacCluckie/ey
or Macluckie/ey.

There are quite a few possible ways of spelling the name.

Hi flora

Your family is right there in 1891 but still no more than the 2 children. You'll find them in Govan and the name is spelt just as you'd think MCLUCKIE. If there were any births and deaths between the 2 census returns I guess they'd likely be found right there in the same parish...but I haven't looked for any.

Best wishes
Jean
