Hi Dennis

I take you have tried all the usual wildcard combinations.

I was looking for a Barbara Guthrie (mine was in Ayrshire!) and it was the Bar*bra that got me. every other record we had was Barbara then we found both 1851 census and her second marriage (third marriage of my Gt-grandfather) were the different spelling.
Ayrshire again had my son-in-laws Muir family as Moor/Moore/Muir/Myre/Muire. M*r* found them but we had to winnow out the Mairs and Mortons first.

Some just don't want to be found do they ?

Johnston, Reside, Lyle all over the place !
McGilvray(spelt 26 different ways)
Watson, Morton, Anderson, Tawse, in Kilrenny

Hi Dennis,

The OPRs for Sanday (Lady, Cross & Burness parishes) are only from 1818 onwards. This couple appear to have been married about 15 years before that, so if they were married there, then there is no OPR record to be found.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Andrew,

Only 1818 onward; I'll have to keep that in mind. I guess that's the end of the road for that line.
