Re: dempster mclellan calderhead bingham
Hello,
I do hope that your e-mail is still active. I am helping a family do research on the DEMPSTER family.
Moses DEMPSTER and his wife Jeanie SCOBBIE were married in 1907 and then adopted a child <name removed as date of birth after cut off date of 1909>, born in 1917, ( don't know if she was a child of a family member or not), but not legally adopted until 1945 and by Jean DEMPSTER nee SCOBIE.
Moses DEMPSTER died in 1940. I do not have any of the legal papers of adoption, or <the persons> original birth records, but have other records from the family that is doing the research. I have Census etc. paperwork on this DEMPSTER family also, and would love to share anything that I have with you.
What they are trying to find is that, <name removed> also had an illegitimate child, named <name removed>, born in Glasgow in 1946. She was adopted by <names removed as those mentioned may still be alive> . They immigrated to Canada with <name removed> in 1947. I also have this passenger list paperwork. We do not know the name of the birthfather of [the child] <name removed>, only that in her words, he was in the British Navy and that <the mother>, at the time, was a secretary working for the British navy also. Most of my documents were from Scotlandspeople or Ancestry.com,which I have a World wide membership, or paperwork from the family, Janna ERICKSON, and Donny BRINK, which I am trying to help.
Could this be the family that they are looking for?
<paragraph removed as these are very recent events and all named persons may still be living>
Hope to hear from you and compare notes,
Judy Anderson

Hi Judy
Welcome to Talking Scot
I'm not sure this is the best forum for your query - we do not tend to mention people on Talking Scot who may still be alive, or who are recently deceased. See Essential Reading for more info on out cut-off dates:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6601
You may also be interested in our links to sites about adoption issues in the Talking Scot Library:
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=557
Adoption records in Scotland are not open to public view, so any queries regarding these records are not likely to have answers which can be easily found. The adopted person has rights to view their own records, or they can appoint someone to do it for them - otherwise they are closed records.
If anyone has any info for you Judy, I would hope that they would use the Private Messaging system, so that the details of potentially living people are not being discussed on the open public forum.
Best wishes
Lesley
