Can anyone find a death record for me please?

Post by dmd1164 » Wed Jan 24, 2007 11:58 pm

Agnes Meikle Moore b22/03/1904 in Larkhall.

Was married to David Wilson Dickson in 1920 St Giles, however they split up at some stage after my grandfather's sister was born in 1926.

If anyone can give me a date of death I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks
Donna

Hi Donna
I think there is a good chance, given she was born in 1904, that her death will fall after the cut-off date of 1956 on Scotlands People, and if so, that would need to be looked up at NRH.

best wishes
Lesley

Hi Lesley - yes I'm aware of that - was wondering if anyone would mind looking it up for me if they are going to the records centre?

I found one record on IGI - but it wasn't the right Agnes.

It's a bit restrictive living in Australia - I can only do so much on the web.

Thanks anyway
Donna

Many thanks Jack. Agnes was my ggrand mother - she separated from David Dickson - he came to Australia with his son in the 1950's. I don't think Agnes married the Betts chap.

But it's good to have the details - many thanks.

They mystery thickens - G - the informant - G_______ is no where to be found. A recent check of the death records has not located her. And.... one of my cousins has done a check of the local nursing homes and she is no where to be found......

Hello Donna,

There’s <someone of a similar name> died 1997, age 72, somewhere in West Lothian.
<Donna, this can be found at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk >

Alan

<edited LesleyB. Event too recent for mentioning names. See guidelines http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6601 >

Hello Lesley,

I’ve carefully read the policy as set out in the link but I’m afraid I am none the wiser and I really think that forum members deserve better.

The three explanatory paragraphs refer to information about and privacy of possibly living persons. There is absolutely no explanation or reason even hinted at for the policy regarding the dead, not even the possibly living dead.

As you have read at:
http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6601
It states:
  • Please use the cut-off dates used by Scotlands People as a guideline:
    » Births up 1907
    » Marriages up to 1932
    » Deaths up to 1957
    - regardless of country.
The above dates remain cut-off dates on Scotlands People for access to the full records, and for the moment we are staying with these guidelines here on TS until we can fully assess how we should deal with queries concerning the newly available indices - as I'm sure you can understand it is potentially quite a sensitive area, concerning the recently deceased and recent births and marriages the last two of which may refer to still living persons. It has always been our main concern to help folk with family history, rather than more recent events.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best wishes
Lesley
