Hi Sandra
Gonna start right in asking a question......do you mean somewhere in Aberdeen as in County (Shire)? or Aberdeen as in City of?? And if the latter then do you have an idea of what district??
As most folks are aware statutory registrations begain in 1855 and everything prior to this year is hit or miss. Death records are mostly a miss!! However...if you have a specific location in mind then it would be easier to advise you what your odds of finding will be. For example...In Aberdeen the death records consist of burial info only and are scattered between St. Nicholas and St. Clements. It does appear that there are burials in the time period you're interested in existance for St. Clement's churchyard. Unfortunately the burial/death portion of the OPR's are not available online thorugh Scotlands People.
Best wishes
Jean

Hi Sandra,
When I was in Edinburgh last October, I found burial records for Old Machar, Aberdeen on the OPR film 168B/21C (1832-1855). It will give you the name, date of burial, residence, occupation (of the father or husband if it is a child or a woman), the depth of the grave and the various charges paid in connection with the burial. So Old Machar, anyway, is a good deal in terms of the information provided! If you know the parish and the burial records exist, you could always order the appropriate film at your local Family History Center (I see you are in Australia, so visiting Edinburgh is out unless you have friends or family there
).
All the best,
Sarah

Hi Wanda,
Go to the General Register Office of Scotland site (link under "sources" at the top of this page), click on Family Records > Our records > list of old parochial records. Scroll down to the county you want and you can see the PDF file of what exists. For most of Glasgow you'll note that death records don't exist
But there are some burial records as indicated in the file. I looked at the film last fall when I was looking for a Glasgow death in 1840 and it was not there (but many were!). I did find it in the individual cemetery records at the Mitchell Library, however.
Good luck,
Sarah
