Hi,
If anyone happens to be in the mitchell and has a few spare secs could they have a look at a DC for me. I've found it on SP but the image isn't available for some strange reason. Details are
Margaret Rennie Ms Archibald
Died 1869 in eastern cadder lanark age 42
GROS ref 626/A2 0003
Thanks
Vikki

These records can be accessed at Park Circus. I'm going next week and will have a look.
Kind regards,

"Park Circus" is the Glasgow point of access to the General Register Office Scotland records of BMDs from 1855, censuses from 1841, and the Old Parochial Registers of births (more often baptisms) and marriages (more often proclamations), but mostly relating only to members of the Established Church of Scotland as regards the OPR records.MissNUFC wrote:Thanks Annette

Have a Google for the DIGROS project, or look for the references to DIGROS on the GROS website.

I'm afraid the image is also unavailable through digros.
I told the registrar and she couldn't access it either. However she found a RCE that was quite hard to read but not much info about Margaret anyway:
Page 21 East District Cadder
Preocgnition report on the death of Margaret Rennie, 42 years.
Died Jan 15th 1869 7.10pm Drumcavil?? House
Cause Acute inflammation of the lungs complicated by morbid conditions of the liver.
County Buildings Glasgow 13th March 1869.
I think you're going to have to order the original from gros if you want more details on Margaret.
Kind regards,

Thanks for that Annette
I'll have to order the original, it's just typical, the one you really need to see is the hardest to get
Drumcavil seems to be a mill by monkland.
What is a precognition report?
Thanks

Any death which was sudden, violent, unexpected, or where there had been no regular medical attendant before death, should have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal (think District Attorney). His report on the situation, copied to the registrar, was termed a precognition.MissNUFC wrote:Thanks for that Annette
