Hi Aileen,

The phrase will be result of precognition. The entry in the Register of Corrected Entries (RCE) may simply confirm the cause of death given on the death certificate [the most common outcome of an RCE for a death certificate], it may expand on the information, or even conflict with the original information. The RCE is usually information gained after a Post Mortem and accepted by the Procurator Fiscal for that area as an correction to the information originally given on the cdertificate.

All going well, the RCEs should be online on ScotlandsPeople very soon. I am sure you will see it here on TalkingScot when these are availble on ScotlandsPeople.

Until such time as they come online, they are only available in New Register House (Edinburgh) or Park Circus (Glasgow).

All the best,

AndrewP
