Catholic Marriages.....

Post by a1cluith » Mon Dec 20, 2004 1:01 pm

Most of my in-laws are descendents of Roman Catholic families that came over from Northern Ireland settling in and around Glasgow. I have been able to get their birth marriage and death certificates but cannot find out where they are buried. I have been told that Parkhead is built on an old RC cemetery. Has anyone heard of this cemetery what it was called and where I might find some information? I have tried the Mitchell Library but no-one their had heard of this.

You might look up beside the Lambhill cemetery as St Kentigerns RC cemetery is side by side , my great grandad is in lambhill and his sons wifes family are across the fence in St Kentigerns.

Hi

If you are looking for CAtholic burial grounds in the EAst end of Glasgow, you should look for teh records for St Peter's Cemetery, Dalbeth. it is on London Road just past the curretn Celtic training ground. It is a fairly old cemetery.

Janefield rings a bell. Behind Celtic Park. It is really run down. Went there by mistake when I should have been at St. Peter's, Dalbeth.
