Looking For SOMERS

Post by bryoung » Fri Apr 06, 2007 8:08 pm

I have Jane SOMERS in the 1881 Census

Dwelling: 22 High St
Census Place: Dunbar, Haddington, Scotland
Source: FHL Film 0224025 GRO Ref Volume 706 EnumDist 7 Page 6

Jane SOMERS 6 m F Dunbar, Haddington, Scotland
Rel: Daur

Thanks to information provided by LDS

Try as I can, I can't find her birth in "Sotlandspeople" even using "Wildcards"

Can anyone point out the error of my ways and point me in the right direction?

Hello,
I can't even find her in the 1881 census index  Could you tell us the names of the others in the household? I know you are looking for her birth, but I started out by trying to find the record you mentioned ... and couldn't!
All the best,
Sarah

Hi Brian,
Can't easily see wee Jane's birth for abt 1880.
Maybe next time you're at NRH look at the fiche birth indexes for Dunbar?
You might find her that way?
The 1891 census also says born Dunbar.

Hi Brian,
Thought I was onto something when I finally narrowed down the SP search to a j*n summers born in Dunbar in 1880 and still got one result... But it turned out to be John  And there he is in the 1881, so I'm afraid there's no mistake on the birth cert :(
Best do as Jack suggested and look at the fiches.
Regards,
Sarah
