Hi Dennis,

ps - Davie, the John MALCOLMSON you mentioned was also born in Ayr, and was wondering if he was Mary Ann's brother - and his wife Agnes was the sister of James ADDIES. Might not be, but they may all be related in some way.

None of the above long lost deid punters are in my line, but looking at the posts from Andy, Davie and Jack all I can say is I takes me lid off to you gents. It is post like this that helps us mere mortals to better understand the trials and tribulations of searching for our long losts.
Plus! the different ways and means we need to consider when searching for our own.

A possible - if the right Elizabeth in 1881.

ELIZABETH DONALDSON
Birth: 04 MAR 1856 High Church, Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland
Father: JAMES DONALDSON

The Elizabeth Donaldson from James & Jane died before the year was out from Consumption.
So maybe I need to look at the 26 yr old unmarried Elizabeth with the 3 yr old William.

Hi Dennis,

Is it the correct William ADDYS who married Elizabeth DONALDSON in 1881? If yes, what was Elizabeth's age & parents' names?

An Elizabeth DONALDSON or EADIE died aged 34 in Glasgow 1883 - and if this is the right lady, then maybe she was a wee bit older than the 26yrs stated 1881?

Hi Jack
The William Addys & Elizabeth Donaldson who married in 1881 are both shown as being aged 23. Her parents are Archibald Donaldson and Sarah ( nee Dick).

Hi Dennis,

I dare say you'll have this marriage from the IGI - which also shows 3 boys to them. They also had Elizabeth - born abt 1850.
So seems her age of 23 on her 1881 MC was a bittie understated - would've been nearer 31.

The family (including Elizabeth abt 1yr) were in Paisley 1851 census - but back in Glasgow by 1861 (aged 11yrs).

ARCHIBALD DONALDSON
SARAH DICK
Marriage: 27 FEB 1843 Barony, Lanark, Scotland

Will get the census details at one point. What was Archibald's occupation? - just to help confirm it's the right family.

Hi Jack

Archibald's occupation is listed as Draper's Salesman on Elizabeth's MC. On his wife Sarah's Sept. 19th 1877 DC he is listed as a baker; she is also a widow at this time.

Thanks Dennis,

It's a possibility that Archibald has died by 1861 - not with family then, but won't know till i see if the census says widow for Sarah.

Hi Jack.

Archibald died Feb. 19, 1863 in High Church, Glasgow at age 49.
On the DC he is listed as a Baker, Journeyman. His dad was also named Archibald and his occupation is given as a Carver & Gilder.
