Would anyone care to take on a challange?
I have 11 children for Samuel Gibson Craig & Jane McFie (Jean McFee).
The children were born between years 1848 - 1868, I have been able to find birth records for all of the children except one, my G Grandmother, Agnes Craig.
Starting from the eldest, I have births in (1) Abbey, (2) Johnstone, (6) Greenock, (1) Kilbarchan.
The estimate of birth is 1853, and going by the census, in 1851 the family lived William Street Abbey, Paisley, then 1861 Arthur Street Greenock.
I have checked all female births for RFW between 1852 & 1854, there are 20 on SP but not Agnes. Between 1855 & 1858 I have viewed all 6 finds, but again not the correct Agnes.
I can accept that all births were not recorded prior to 1855, I just find it strange that the family would record all but 1 birth of 11 children.
Any help would be appreciated.

Nothing concrete Kathy, just a couple of thoughts.
Is there enough time between the births of the children immediately preceding and following Agnes' birth, or could Agnes have been the child of one of Samuel or Jean's brothers or sisters?
Could Agnes have been her second name, used to distinguish her from a grandmother or aunt living with them who had the same first name?
Did Agnes marry and if so, does she name Jean and Samuel as her parents?
I agree it does seem very odd that she's the only one you can't locate.

Hi Kathy
I have a family from Paisley - married 1820 - had about 6 children before they came to Australia in 1833 - all except one appear to have been baptised
- that just had to be my direct descendant. I have spent quite a few pounds on SP to no avail. So although it seems strange, it can happen.
Meanwhile, if I have the right family, the next child William Craig was born 15 Feb 1855. His birth certificate should list previous children born to the couple & may give a slightly better age for Agnes than is on the census. It would presumably also verify that Agnes did belong to the family.

Thanks Sheila, I had seen the family search entry, I have contact with the submitter.
Trish, I have only been able to find reference to Agnes by that name, it would have made searching easier if I had a second Christian name.
Jane (Jean) & Samuel are her parents, she names them as such at the time of her marriage in 1873.
Momet, spending on SP is sending me broke, especially with the exchange rate, I topped up another 60 credits this morning.
I did go back to look at the birth entry for William 1855, there are 3 boys and 1 girl living, and I know Agnes is the eldest girl.
Maureen, you did go to a lot of bother, thank you, I had all of that information, including Jessie’s birth date 28th Nov 1863.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
