Hi Delmarco,
The Service Returns are indexed per page rather than per record. You will see that 5 of the index entries lead to the same page.
For your search, for Alexander McMenemy marrying in 1926, it calls up a Service Return page with 4 marriages on it (one of the brides had married before, so is indexed by both her maiden surname and her previously married surname), so the index makes it look as if he married 5 wives. A look at the page will tell you which bride he married. The other brides had a groom each. To click on any one of these will mark all of the entries for that page as paid in your search results.
His marriage was also registered at the consulate where he was stationed, so that produces the other record. One record per page, so only one bride indexed for him. This search result tells you who to expect to find as the right bride on the Service Return.
All the best,
AndrewP
