William NOBLE, Midlothian

Post by carmar » Tue Dec 22, 2015 8:51 am

Hooray,
It's only taken me 2 months to work out how to post a message!
Wondering if anybody knows the correct parents of William Noble
who married Janet Edmonstone on 30 Apr. 1828, South Leith, Midlothian.
Also has his death ever been found? carmar
PS Hope people are still around & not all away on holidays!

Hi Carmar and a congratulatory message from all of us here at TalkingScot xmas:lol: [scotland-flag]

Can't help with your specific enquiry but there are lots of members who might have some suggestions.
In answer to your PS - the idea that we go on holiday and neglect our genealogy obsession startled me  I was away overnight looking after my granddaughters but still managed to log-in to TalkingScot to check for up-dates and I know that across the globe many of us would be doing the same thing. I even arrange holidays at places that have wi-fi :? I reckon that failure to log-in would cause withdrawal symptoms.
Now that you have made a starting post do a bit of exploring. Key in names, place names etc in the 'search' box on the top right of the page and see if anything helpful pops up.

There is a family tree on Ancestry.com which has William Noble married to Janet Edmonstone. Parents James Noble and Elizabeth Gibson. Lots of siblings. Might this be your William?

Carol :D
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,
Munro, Cadenhead, Raitt, Ririe/Reary

Hi Russell,
Thank you for the searching advice.
What a silly thought that was of mine, that those of us
who are absolutely committed to family history could
possibly let go of it at any time! carmar
Hi speleobat2
I'ts been a few years since I looked at William Noble,
& someone on a message board thought his parents
were someone else, but thanks for the Ancestry.com tree info.
That makes sense with the naming pattern. carmar
