Sarah Casey went to australia

Post by billingham » Wed Apr 29, 2015 8:33 am

:D Hi, Sarah Casey was born abt 1828, Co Monghan, Ireland, she was one of 10 children,
in 1851, Sarah's parents Barny & Elizabeth were living at 8 Old Vennell, Glasgow,
in 1856 Sarah's father died, his wife Elizabeth applied for poor relief, on this she states
her daughter Sarah is in Australia, iv'e been searching for a marriage for Sarah before she left for
Australia, i'm looking at a marriage that took place in St, John's, Glasgow 1853.
a Sarah Casey married William Canley.
I'm looking into the possibility William Canley could just be a William Connolly.

1851 a family of Connonlly's were living at 105, New Vennell, this family had a son
called William Connolly, 17 a boot and shoe maker.

Its possible that Sarah married this lad in 1853, some time after 1853 and before 1856
Sarah was in Australia.
Two witnesses at this marriage in 1853 were Patrick Gilson & Catherine MacDoualy.
I dont have a marriage document for the Sarah & William Canley marriage 25/09/1853 just the witnesses
names, iv'e been told father's names at this time were never put on any marriage document.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Derek [cheers]
