I was just researching a family where the mother's name varied from Isobel to Elizabeth back and forth on the children's birth certificates, so am glad to see this confirmed!Elizabeth is the same as Isabel/Isobel in Scotland
I was going to suggest this also. I have known Cissies with that etymology (at least in the U.S. "Sissie" means something unflattering, so one could see why they would go for the spelling with "C".)Could Cissie also be a pet name - as in sister
