Family Tree Excel Sheets

Post by Pandabean » Tue Nov 07, 2006 2:45 pm

I thought I would start a new topic for this rather than use the old topic as there is much more in this sheet other than a tree outline. Hope that is ok.

After creating the Tree Outline excel sheet I said I would create a Tick List for certificates. Since then I have added a few extra things in as well to create a small package of sheets.

Any feedback and/or improvements are welcome.

Updated Link

Summary of the sheets included.

Tree Outline
This is similar to the previous outline sheet for excel. It has been modified slightly by removing the notes to a seperate sheet and allowed for larger gaps between the namespaces on the tree.

Notes Sheet
Basically an excel sheet where you can put notes in to relate to the Tree Outline sheets or any other purpose.

Certificates & Other Sources
A check-list for individuals to note what sheets are still required. Useful if you have your tree on your home computer and doing work on a work/uni/college computer. The tick can be copied into the other fields if doing the sheet on the computer.

Individual Summary Sheet
Same as a sheet I uploaded earlier this year.

Photo Index
A simple archiving sheet for photographs. I was hoping to put a box in to show a thumb of the image. I may remove one of the current columns to put this in depending on feedback.

I may be able to create PDF's of these sheets if required. Also there is no census summary sheet as one already exists on the internet and does the job perfectly.

Hi Andy

This has developed into a good 'pack' and I for one will be utilising it if that is ok. I do use Excel a lot and would say I am an advanced user, but I am also honest enough to say why faff about if someone has taken the time to do it already

Thanks. Just hope that it does help people.

I know what you mean bout trying to find time. Uni is just getting busy so I havent been able to do much to the tree. Keep meaning to go into the local FHS to look at OPRs but never get round to it.

Hi Pandabean

Just found this and it looks great, I would be happy to use it. Was sitting down to plan my own and getting a head-ace. It is much more structured than mine. Will try it out and give you feed-back if that is okay with you.

Hi Andy

I meant to get back to you but have been away for the weekend.
My family History group looked at it and felt they just about manage a spreadsheet except two who asked
"Could you show us how to switch on the computer?"
The rest of us suggested that they attend the computer classes we hold here before they try master some of the intricacies.

For me, the check list of certificates is great. It meets a long felt need.
I had been planning something similar but never quite got round to it.
To be presented with it complete and ready to use is great.
Thank you I hope an A+ in your next essay makes up for the time you spent on it.

Thanks for looking at it.

I will probably be at the stage of not knowing how to switch things on in 20 years or so when technlogy has moved on. they dont need to be used on the computer you could print them of for the members.

Is there any columns that I have left out of the checklist that you would have liked to have seen?
