Hi Ailsa,

Where did you find the 1877 street directory for Belfast? Is it online?

Thanks Lesley,

That is a good site for anyone who thinks they had relatives living in Belfast!

I found one small clue, but nothing confirmed. There was a Hugh Heron, spirit dealer, living on New Street in 1877. Of course, his wife Jane could have been one of the dozen or so Mrs. Heron's that I found in assorted census records!

So I may have come up short, but I highly recommend this site to others!

Carol,

Yes the streets Directory is a good site - especially as there are very few sites to look at for free in Ireland. I for one cannot afford to pay 4 pounds a time for every Elizabeth Murphy living in Down that i would like to look at on ancestryireland.com.
Maybe if they reduced the fee to say a pound a search they might make more money - you would still have to pay for the actual certificate which is fair enough.
That's what's so good about SP you are only using 1 credit to do a search , you therefore look for longer and find other people along the way (hopefully).
Happy hunting,

Ailsa
