If a post is in "Last Post" I presume it will be deleted soon!!! Other than printing it off and adding it to the unimaginable mess of paper I already have - is there a way to archive it here? I return to these messages a lot as I still like to refer to the t ips you all gave me when I started - I'm still lost!

Hello Tish,
I can't tell you why your question was moved over to the "Last Posts?" Other then we do some dusting at times and it may have been moved by mistake?
But, I can certainly move it back to the General Discussion Board. Go on take a look its back on the main board. Good Luck with your future research!
Regards
Marilyn

Wow! I am a great fan of the works of Lewis Grassick Gibbon which was the pseudonym for the writer James Leslie Mitchell b. 1901 d. 1935. How strange to see all names linked. He lived mostly in Arbuthnott, Kincardineshire

Hi rdem,
yes I'm a big fan too - only thing is all the names and addresses in my tree are in his tree too but I have not established a connection. Still, no harm in dreamin'!

He was born in Turriff.
His childhood home at Arbuthnott named Bloomfield was just up the brae from Hareden where my ancestors lived a genearation prior to his family arriving there.

Hi rdem,
I visited and joined the Grassic Gibbon Centre on a trip to Scotland in 2003. I asked them for info on his ancestry last year and they sent me what they had - I filled in some blanks thereafter but other than same names and very close addresses I haven't found a direct line. I have been unable to trace the ancestors of Peter Mitchell (my g.g.g.g.grandfather) who with Mary Bowman had 10 or more children in Crathie between 1800 and 1825. Perhaps if and when I track him down I might find a connection.
Open to suggestions!!
