Hi David
parents were Charles Routledge Paterson (Isle of Whithorn) and Jessie Andrew (Oban)
Heck I get myself confused with this one - every other record it changes Andrew/Andrews Paterson/Patterson still not sure what it 'should' be.

I was just reading about the "Andrew" middle name and had a bit of a chuckle, my older sister always gets asked about her "boy" middle name of Stewart, and she has to tell them that it is our mothers maiden name

Stewie

back on the theme of mistakes on records, I've long since learned to take everything with pinch of salt.
Apart from my 'male' grandmother my favourite is a relative who is given as 1 month old in the 61 census. All very well but her birth cert says she was born 2 days after the census was taken!
I'm guessing it was a late registration and the parents fudged the dob to satisfy the registrar but as to when she was really born - who knows?

As the fine for a registration later than 21 days from the birth was 21 shillings (GBP1.05), a not inconsiderable sum in those days, I'd say that the chances that you are correct are about 99.999%
Normally, ages of infants were shown in the format "Xd" for day, "Yw" for weeks, and "Zm" for months, but it's also not unknown for an enumerator to round, i.e. also possible that "1m" could mean anything between a few days and a month and a bit.
