This site might be the place to look:

http://www.emeraldancestors.com/

I am not sure of coverage, but it does hold a lot of records....pay site unfortunately. But from what I have heard, worth it.

Peter Donnelly and Isabella Campbell

Post by bn08jr » Wed Jul 11, 2007 7:08 am

Hi,

I have a Peter Donnelly and Isabella Campbell in my family tree. They were born in about 1822 in Ireland. My connection is they had a daughter named Mary who married a James Christie in Dungannon. They moved to a place called Dalziel in Wishaw, Scotland. They had a daughter (9 actually) named Helen who is my grandmother. I am wondering if there is any connection?

Hi Barb

many thanks for coming back to me on this, unsure if connected though all my Donnelly's lived in Merry's Rows Blantyre. Patrick is the only child that i know off, i do not however believe that he was an only child.

On his marraige certificate it is witnessed by a Donnelly i cant make out the first name though.

i have not been able to find a death cert for either Peter or Isabella, i was hoping that they may have more info on them

i did search Griffith's Valuation Index (1847-1864), i could not find any Peter Donnelly within Donegal, i believe this disproves they came from Donegal (i may be wrong :>). I did find only one Peter Donnelly from Drumcoo, Town of Dungannon,Drumglass,Tyrone

I look forward to you thoughts

Billy

Campbell, Donnelly

Hi Billy,

The similarities that pop out at me are that the names are the same (obviously), the ages are about right and also that my Peter Donnelly was also a railway labourer(one says railway plate layer I think), and the daughter Mary Donnelly was married in Dungannon. I will keep on looking and see what I find. It is so hard to find records in Ireland.

Hi Barb

i quite agree their appears to be many similarities, area, names ,location, ages.

I will try and find Peter and Isabella's death cert as i say this may shed more info as i dont believe that Patrick was an only child

take care

Billy
