I'm getting...

John Getty
Card ?Toller?
34 years
Whiteabbey, Ireland (you lucky thing you get a place in Ireland!)

Elizabeth's maiden name certainly seems to be Prentice. Have you looked for her birth in Blantyre?

Is there nothing in the OPR's for their 1840 marriage at all, or for her c1822 birth there either?

Found these on the BIVRI ...

PRENTICE, Elisabeth (Note the s instead of the z)
Birth Date: 10 Sep 1820 Birthplace: , Blantyre, Lanark, Scotland (If the age on that BC is 35 instead of the 33 I thought it was?) Recorded in: Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Father: James PRENTICE
Mother: Jane EUNSON

Source: FHL Film 1042964 Dates: 1820 - 1854

PRENTICE, Thomas Christening
Birth Date: 10 Dec 1817 Birthplace: Blantyre, Lanark, Scotland
Recorded in: Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Father: James PRENTICE
Mother: Jane EUNSON
Source: FHL Film 102886 + Dates: 1722 - 1827

If this is her, did you know she had a brother?

:D Great Mary, this certainly looks like her, there is a birth 1820, Blantyre, but just use my last cr looking for a OPR marriage 1839-1841, nothing,
still trying to get the hang of this, how come you are all so good

Don't forget to use the * instead of the z and I'd be tempted to put Prenti* just in case it got written as Prentiss or similar.

With the Gitty name I'd be tempted to enter G*tty or even G*tt*

Just my thoughts :D

P.S. We all learn from each other, but mostly from the really experienced folks on here.

Hi Sandra,

Now we have the maiden surname Eunson (thanks Mary), go back to the marriage certificate that you started this inquiry with. Using some imagination, you can see Eunson in the writing there.

Elizabeth Prentice shows up on the online version of the IGI, details as given by Mary above. Her bother Thomas doesn't show on the online IGI as Blantyre is one of the many parishes where only the female births are on the online version of the IGI. Other versions of the IGI will have both male and female births.

I take it Mary's (Emanday) information given above is from the British Isles Vital Records Index (BIVRI) CDs.

Both should show up in the OPR index on ScotlandsPeople. Hopefully the OPR images will be available there soon and you will be able to download these and see if they have any more information (be aware, most don't have much more information than is shown in the index).

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Mary,
Is there any chance that Eliz. Prentice fathers name could be John and not James, that is what is on her dc that I had uploaded earlier on this post

I have uploaded a dc for James Prentice, can you maybe help decipher is wifes name!
