i looked up your birth record for you

edward mccann born 1 dec 1909
at 2 pillans land, newmains, cambusnethan, lanarkshire
parents: john mccann (blast furnace keeper) and
elizabeth mccann M.S Mcgraw
parents married on 3 jan 1901 at coatbridge, lanarkshire
informant at johns birth: john mccann father
registered on 1909 dec 10 ay wishaw, registrar thomas steele

hope this helps

also you should be able to get john and elizabeths marriage on scotlands people, and from there you can keep working back!
