My GGreat-Grandpa Greer was employed as a Mason by the Clyde Trust-presumably repairing the Canal Dykes etc.He had a Clyde Trust house as part of his wages & one of his & his similarly employed brother duties was to fish bodies out of the Canal at Old Kilpatrick & down to Bowling. They had a rowing boat for this duty & my Granny(where I inherited my taste for the goulish) used to love to go & watch them hauling out a corpse.
She would then pass on titbits of what they looked like etc until her Mother found out & she was banned from such activities.
She was only young about six or seven & I am glad to say she didn't turn into a serial killer or anything!Just extremely curious-a lifelong trait which again has been handed down!!
