I knew I should have verified the births that Andy posted but got lazy  So scratch that whole lot of censuses. We're back to square one with just one child born to James McDonald and Georgina Mulholland-- correct?
As far as I can see. :?

Back to the drawing board,
Sarah

Done it again!

I think we crossed posts Sarah and I added a wee bit about my opinion as to where wee James was in 1871 and 1881. What do you think?

Regards,
Annette

Later ...... Oh right you'd already marked him.

Thanks Andrew,

You did better by far than me reading that one.

If Georgina died right after having James Jr. and James Sr. was a soldier at the time then it makes sense that James Jr. would be boarded out. James Sr. might have remarried and become a coal miner after he left the army?

At least the certificate gives anniee some more information on James Sr.'s parents--if this is the right family?

Thanks Frances,

Now we just need the address for Georgina! I can see an m in there, but that's about it. I don't know enough about Perth to even make a guess!

Sarah scores again! =D>

Well, at least we're finding out something for anniee! I've been looking at the census etc. for other members of the family and haven't found much. These people are as elusive as my relatives! They just aren't showing up anywhere for me.

Me neither... wondering if they weren't hiding in Ireland (the usual excuse for giving up) Certainly, that seems to be where most Mulhollands hang out.

Could be. I'm not having any better luck with the Menzies McDonalds either.

Couldn't find a death cert. for James Sr.'s father George anywhere. Couldn't find Mary McDonald anywhere. Haven't found the Menzies connection, but that could cost a bit so I've been sticking to the free records or Ancestry.

Good puzzle we've got here!
