Was it murder?

Post by Dennis » Sun Dec 16, 2007 9:06 pm

Hi,

In the RCE for Alexander McCulloch Bowes the cause of death is stated as 'starngulation'. How do I find out if it was an accident or murder?

There is a report in the Scotsman 31 March 1913 which gives more on the circumstances - very sad:-

Glasgow Man Found Dead. - A man named Alexander Bowes fifty-four years of age, who resided at 43 Lanark Street, in the northern district of Glasgow, was found dead in his house last night. The other members of the family went out about half-.past nine o'clock, and on returning an hour later they discovered Bowes hanging behind the door. He had been depressed since the death of his wife about Christmas.

Thank you Lindsay. Can't afford The Scotsman. Sad indeed. Was there anything about a funeral or obituary?
