Hi to all,
Still on the quest for the death of my gt gt grandfather can anyone do a look up for me please. I thought he was the Mariner who died at sea but the records don't give me any clues.(another 5 credits wasted).
After discovering they moved to Falkirk from Bridgeton, I have noticed the below Thomas Beveridge.
8 1878 BEVERIDGE THOMAS M 36 FALKIRK LANDWARD /STIRLING 479/02 0084
If it is him it will make sense why his wife was alone in 1881 with a load of weans!
Thanks
Look up request please

Hi Crayspond,
Do you have an address in Falkirk for the wife and weans in 1881?
The reason I ask is that if he died the Falkirk area, the chances are he'd be buried in a Churchyard as most of the cemeteries weren't established until the early 1880's. Falkirk District covers quite a sizeable area and if we could narrow it down, there might be more chance in finding him.

Hi Ailsa,
The Dalderse area is now called Langlees/Bainsford. If you key in the following map reference to Multimap, it'll show you where it is/was: NS898823
If you zoom out a wee bit, you'll see that it's roughly between Falkirk and Grangemouth so this area would be covered by Falkirk District Cemeteries Office ( http://www.falkirk.gov.uk/services/comm ... orium.aspx )
By Post: Cemetery Office, Dorrator Road, Camelon, Falkirk FK2 7YJ
By Telephone: 01324 503650
By Fax: 01324 503651
By E-mail: bereavement@falkirk.gov.uk
They just might have him in their records although I'm not 100% sure of what Churchyards they actually hold. In the meantime, I'll have a wee look through the pre-1855 MI Book which covers this area as sometimes later burials are included.
One thing I did notice from the info you supplied from the 1881 Cencus - Jane, although Head of the household is listed as Married rather than Widowed. Could there be any significance in that? Could it be the case that Thomas was away working elsewhere when the Cencus was taken? Have you found the family on the 1891 Cencus without him too?
Sorry for all the questions!!
Anne
