I'm trying to decipher the address for a street in Dumfries where a marriage was performed by Declaration in 1923 - it appears to say 57 Ruedonich but I'm not sure. Any suggestions on where to find a list of street names in Dumfries during this time period? The couple lived at St. David Street and give their address as such. The witnesses were both at 61 St. Michael Street.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Julie

Hi Julie
There is Dumfies in 1893 here.
http://www.nls.uk/maps/townplans/dumfries_2.html
Or try
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
for a modern map naming the streets.
I'm not too familiar with Dumfries, but maybe some other members are and will be able to help more.
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Julie,
Any chance you could upload a copy of the image to the TalkingScot Gallery for others to see the handwritten address.
See http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6496 for uploading instructions.
All the best,
AndrewP
