Another Lost Son

Hi everyone

John Anthony Barr born 1870 Glasgow.

Mary Jane Friel born 1874 died 1916.

John & Mary married 1893 Lennoxton, they had 3 Daughters-Janet born 1894 Lennoxton, Rebecca 1898 Dalmuir Dumbarton, Annie L born 1899 at Dalmiur Dumbarton.

John then married my 2x Great Aunt Mary Jane Rae 1920 Glasgow.
Mary Jane died 1948,
John died 1957 in Alexandria Dumbarton.

I know it's a long winded story BUT on John's death certificate the informant is R Barr Son, I have not been able to find a Son,.

I don't think this Son belongs to the 2nd marriage as Mary Jane was 41, possibly a little old for children.

There are no records for R Barr (1893-1916) Lennoxton, there is one record in 1908 R Barr Dumbarton.
There is no image for this birth, and I am a little loathe to order and pay around $25 if it is the wrong one.

My big question is, births have to be 100 years old before they can be viewed, does this mean that if I wait until the new year 2009 it will the be released for viewing on SP, If this is the case I may just wait, unless someone can help with this missing Son.

Hi Trish,

The 1908 births should become available on SP around New Year 2009. Other than waiting until then or speculatively spending around $25, the other possibility is to ask here if someone is going into New Register House (Edinburgh) or Park Circus (Glasgow) and could take a look for you.

1908- Robert Barr. District Dumbarton. GROS Data 496/00 0257.
If this is my Robert his Father would be John Anthony Barr, Mother Mary Jane Friel, or Mary Jane Rae.
