Missing Entry of Death in Statutory Register.....

Post by James Dargie » Sun Jul 03, 2005 2:44 pm

I am seeking a copy of the entry of death for my great great grandfather "Thomas Dargie" in the statutory register of deaths, on ScotlandsPeople website. I believe he died in Dundee in 1928 a year after his wife (for whom there is a registry entry). The entry in the Statutory Register of Births has him born on the 23rd July 1859. Which would have made him 68 in the April of 1928 when I belive he died.

I have had passed to me through the family copies of receipts from the Undertaker and Funeral director, along with receipts from the Monifieth parish Cemetry where he was interned. The Funeral Receipts indicate a fee for moving the body from "DRI" Dundee Royal Infirmary to a house in Dura Street Dundee.

Any ideas why this entry might be missing from Scotlandspeople/ GROS indexes?

Many Thanks

James

Hello James,

simple explanation: it was indexed wrongly through, I suspect, a finger hitting an adjacent key on the keyboard. It was indexed as Darvie. If you fail to find a record, it is always best to try a wildcard such as Dar?ie.

Please fill out a contact form through "Contact Us" for it to be corrected.

Regards,

John

John (sporran),

Many thanks for working this one out. I have as suggested contacted Scotlands people to alert them of the indexing error.

Cheers

James
