Garvie family

Post by dmd1164 » Wed Jul 09, 2008 11:55 pm

I'm stuck with finding marriage details for ALexander Garvie and Euphin Hamilton.

They are the parents of Charles Garvie born June 1770 christened 10 JUN 1770 Newbattle, Midlothian, Scotland

I'm assuming they were married in Scotland - however - I wasn't able to find anything on SP or LDS.

Any help would be appreciated.

Donna

Hi Donna
First stop would be http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/famrec/h ... r-cov.html
(it seems the option to copy and paste the details have been disabled, helpful or what?? This is progress???? Hello, out there, anyone from GROS reading this, is there any good reason for this? Trying to help folk here....and point them specifically in YOUR direction. Yours, Frustrated in Fife.... )
to see what records exist,. Seems Newbattle are OK for this time period for marriages, though bear in mind that the dates given do not imply continuous, unbroken records. I' m assuming Newbatltle as the place of marriage, but of course, this may not be the case. They may have married elsewhere.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi all

I found this on LDS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Euphan HAMILTON (AFN: 1T80-5SD) Pedigree
Sex: F Family

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Event(s)
Birth: 10 Mar 1751/52
Bo'ness, Wesr Lothian, Scotland

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Parents
Father: James HAMILTON (AFN: 1KPD-CFL) Family
Mother: Margaret HOGGAN (AFN: 1T80-621)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marriage(s)
Spouse: James GRANT (AFN: 1KPD-H0L) Family
Marriage: 12 Sep 1776
Bo'ness, West Lothian, Scotland

The parents match the details that I was given - however, the spouse doesn't UNLESS - Charles was born out of wedlock (to Alexander Garvie) which is possible. Any other thoughts???

Nope, not for what I want to do... Print Screen creates an image file, which can be pasted into any number of willing software applications! I would then have to upload that to the gallery and give a link to it in my post. All I wanted to do, which was possible until they updated the .pdf files recently on the GROS site, was copy and paste a few lines of text into my post. Very frustrating now that it seems that copying has been disabled as an option.

See http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic. ... hlight=rne for example of the sort of thing I wanted to copy & paste, in this instance from Wigtown, which lists the dates and ref. nos. for the OPRs.

Best wishes
Lesley
