John Orr born 1832-422
My gggrandfather John Orr married Catherine Taylor in Ardrossan in 1873. She is 23, but he is prob 31(record indistinct). I have been unable to find his birth. I know his parents were Wm Orr and Margaret Auchincloss, married 1833 at Barony Glasgow, but cannot find them or their son John after that, until John, age 30 appears in the 1871 Census at Dalry. I wonder if the family moved out of Scotland. Any ideas would be welcome.

Hi Sheilago,
Just a thought...did you try the Isle of Man?
I had a family that seemed to disappear off the face of the earth for about twenty years. I had them in Edinburgh for a few years then nothing until twenty years later when they suddenly reappeared in marriage certificates and through those records, discovered more children but couldn't find them on SP. Seems they were living on the Isle of Man at one point, although I still haven't found them on the 81, 91 or 1901 census records...so it is possible your lot moved about also.
Regards,
Anne H
