Hello,
Can anyone help with a death look up for Elizabeth McFarlane - Mother Margaret Christie father Dugald McFarlane.
She shows on the 1851 census age 8 months but does not appear on the 1861 with the rest of the family. I have looked up SP but they only start from 1855. If anyone can look it is probably between 1851 and 1855.
Thanks,
Ailsa

if there are any OPR deaths or burials recorded for that parish. Then you would need to order out the OPR microfilm from your local LDS centre (if you are not in Scotland)
Another way to look for a death would be to find out if anyone has recorded the grave stone inscriptions in the local cemetery. But not everyone could afford a stone. Pre 1855, it is not always straight forward to trace a death.

Unfortunately, there is no one place to look for deaths between these dates. Statutory Registration of births, marriages and deaths did not begin in Scotland until 1855. You don't mention were the child was in 1851, but using that parish as a starting point, and assuming she died there, you can find out hereIf anyone can look it is probably between 1851 and 1855.
