John Patrick Bruce d.1919 Dumfries

Does anyone know where I can find out where John Patrick Bruce who died in Dumfries on 28/09/1919 is buried. I have searched the local newspaper fiche for a death notice and I have also contacted Dumfries & Galloway Council but I still can not find anything. I have his death cert. from Scotlands People (he was a retired tweed finisher and was 82 when he died) The unusual thing (I think anyway!) was on his death cert. he was shown as married three times!....Do you think he could be buried with either his 1st wife Jane Thomson (in Galashiels) or his 2nd Annie Armstrong (in Dumfries) or his 3rd Annie Thomson (in Dumfries)

Just a quick observation here......his 2nd wife pre-deceased him by a goodly sum of years (40+) so not as likely that he would have been buried with her. I didn't bother to track down wife number 1 as she surely would be out of the running. His third wife survived him by a decade so if in fact they were found together is would be she being buried with him and not vice versa. She died in Kirkbean so not sure where you're getting the Dumfries reference from unless you know for a fact that she is buried there. If she is then I guess I'd start digging in Dumfries....why else would they have put her there unless it was near to John?

Have you tried any contact with the Dumfries Family History Society for assistance in possibly finding a MI? http://www.dgfhs.org.uk/index.htm

Hi Jean,
Thanks for your reply. I added Dumfries by mistake, sorry. I forgot that I had Annes' death notice (my computer crashed a few moths back and I only backed up about 6 months previous) I will see if there is anything in the newspaper fiche tomorrow for Anne's death and it might give a location for the funeral....Thanks again for your help.

I found Annes' funeral notice on the newspaper fiche , but it just said "Funeral Private". Does anyone know where I can find online MI's for Galashiels as I think John could be buried there (I have checked all the Dumfrieshire and Kircudbrightshire MI's for both Anne & John but there seems to be no records of a MI)
