Missing death

Post by thomsos » Sun Mar 08, 2009 2:10 pm

I am trying to find the death of my gr grandfather, George Williamson, b abt 1857.
He was the informant on his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Anderson’s death in Bridgeton, 1908, he was not the informant on the dc of his daughter Jessie Williamson in 1916, Camlachie, but is not listed as deceased, but when his daughter Mary was married in 1925 in Camlachie he was deceased, so I an presuming that he died between 1916 and 1925.
His parents were George Williamson and Jane Peel also McLaren.
I think I have viewed all the George Williamson’s on Sp who died between 1908 and 1925 in Bridgeton, Camlachie and Calton, but cannot find his.
please any suggestions?

Thank-you
Researching- Clark from Polmont, Wason from Dailly, Anderson & Williamson from Bridgeton, also Thomson, Sharp, Bryce, Gillen & Fairley

Have you tried using wildcards in order to cater for possible spelling variations of WILLIAMSON ?

Such variations are far from uncommon, deriving either from the registration process itself, e.g. the name misheard by the registrar at the time of the registration of the death; or a later error when an index was produced from the original records, - this could have been the year after the registers were sent through to Edinburgh, or more recently, when other indexes have been produced.

The informant was his son Daniel of 45 Peel st. he died at 133 Balornock rd., usual address listed as peel st., if I'm not mistaken I think Balornock rd is the address for Stobhill Hospital, he died of a cerebral haemorhage.

Just got to try and find his birth now

Yes it is Stobhill.

Here's his 'brother's' birth but maybe you have this -

WILLIAM WILLIAMSON PEEL

14 JUL 1860 Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

Parents:
Mother: JANE PEEL

I can't find the same mother for George so....................could he be George's son from a different relationship and his mother died before 1860?

Regards,
Annette
