Hello.

I think that someone mentioned before that IGI only spits out female children of a marriage. I'm thinking that's what happened here in the 1755 marriage of Alexander Langlands and Katharine Cuthbert in Forfar, Angus; where the 1st born is listed as Martha and her twin sister Katharine in 1765.

I had a quick look at Martha's IGI entry, and clicked on the 'batch number' at the foot of the page.

Then put in LANGLANDS for the surname and several male births came up for that Parish.

Looks as if Martha just wasn't 'privileged' to have any brothers [ or bothers according to my daughter!]

Hi;
I have found that a couple of the IGI parish indexes for East Lothian OPRs has "female only" names. Parish of Tranent was the first one where I encountered this problem - and I had put in a number of family names (such as Fowler, Liddel, Turnbull) No problem with the marriages.
