John Clark was married to Catharine Reid on 5 Nov 1820 Barony, Lanark, Scotland .
From the IGI their children were:
Margaret Paterson Clark
John Clarke born 28 Feb 1825 Barony, Lanark, Scotland
Matthew Clark
Martha Clark
George Clark
Jane Ritchie Clark
Catherine Clark
George married Elizabeth Barrowman on the 16 March 1855 Glasgow. Lanark, Scotland. Neither of his parents was listed as Deceased.
John married Margaret Russell 24th April 1846 . He was residing in Shettleston and she in Westmuir.
Their fourth child Catherine was born on the 5 Aug 1856 at 12 Burgher Street Glasgow. The birth registration was signed by John Clark, Grandfather.
BUT I cannot find his death certificate or that of Catharine Clark ms Reid (if she died after 1855). Both must have been born prior to 1800 making them older than 55 but I cannot find them on SP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Fiona
P.S. This John Clark is the great grandfather of John Blair Drummond Clark that Davie mentioned in the post on middle names!

Re: John Clark
Hello Fiona,
with names like those, it is best to use wildcards.
Start with looking for the death of Clark*, forename ??th?rin* , and other name Re?d (all years, all areas). There are only 2, and the High Church one looks the best bet.
Having established that she was married to John Clarke, search for his death, which was likely to be in Glasgow. Using her age, he was likely to have been born around 1799. So Clark*, John, death from 1865, district Glasgow City, and year of birth 1797 ± 5 years. Oh look, there's a death in High Church!
Regards,
John

Re: DC for JOHN CLARK
Hi Fiona,
All the best,
Andrew Paterson
PS. - Looks like John (Sporran) was looking this one up at much the same time and beat me to the draw.
How about CATHERINE REID or CLARKE, died 1865 High Church, Glasgow, age not on the index (thus notionally indexed as aged 131 to make the database work)? (note spelling of Clark with an "e")FionaZ wrote:BUT I cannot find his death certificate or that of Catharine Clark ms Reid (if she died after 1855).
