Park Circus.....

Post by nelmit » Fri Aug 05, 2005 2:12 pm

Hello all,

Thanks to Jack's post I discovered Park Circus in Glasgow now covers all of Scotland with a direct link to NRH.

I ventured along yesterday (after making an appointment) and I have to say I found it a bit difficult to get used to the different way of searching compared to SP. Now that I am aware I'm sure I will do better next time.

If you decide to go and it is your first time please ask that the registrar on duty to show you the ropes. I was told when I made the appointment that would be the case, but after sitting staring at the screen for 15 minutes while he took money and printed receipts and telling me he'd be with me soon, I decided to go for it as it seemed straightforward. He then just left me to it. I discovered at 3.55 (when it was time to leave) that they have all the OPR's on screen but nobody had told me this nor shown me how to access them.

In the end it was my own fault for not insisting on the tour, as had been promised when making the appointment so please do not be afraid to ask!

Anyway .............. the nicest part of the day was, I ended up being a witness at the wedding of a lovely Canadian couple. They had arranged to be married in Glasgow while touring Scotland but turned up at the Registry Office with no witnesses. It was all very romantic and they are now off to tour the north west.

Hi Annette,

Thanks for the information on Park Circus. I plan to go there when I am home in October.

How nice of you to be a witness at a wedding. Just think, 100 years from now someone may be reading that wedding record and wondering if you are related.
