ADAM and HOWIE

Post by philrob » Sun Sep 13, 2009 2:05 pm

Dear Readers,

I have a G/G/G/Grandmother who was MARY ADAM before her marriage to WILLIAM ROBERTSON (Glasgow 1863)

Her parents were JOHN and JEAN HOWIE. Mary was born in November 1834 and died in Liverpool in 1871.

I am anxious to discover the family background of Mary. I understand her parents were born in Perthshire.

Thank you in anticipation of any help you can offer me.
Best Regards from Western Australia,

philrob

Hi phhilrob
Some family background should be availble in the census - have you found the family in any census?
You can access the census data on Scotalnds People, (pay per view, images of the original pages) or Ancestry (may be available free at your local library, otherwise pay per view or subscription required - transcriptions of Scots census only, images for England) and Freecen is always worth a try, especially for Scotland in the early census years, 1841, 51.

Best wishes
Lesley
