Not permissable

Post by Grendlsmother » Wed Dec 30, 2009 2:13 pm

It's 50 years since my grandfather died, so I thought I would get his death certificate from SP. It was easy enough to find as I knew all the relevant details, date, place etc. However, when it appeared on the search screen, under mother's maiden name it said "not permissable" - so of course I had to have a look at the certificate.

The mother's name was not the name I expected to see, ie not his father's wife or the name on his birth certificate (both different - I knew previously there was some mystery). However, there was nothing unusual on the actual death certificate, no RCE or special note that the name had to be kept secret - so what criteria had come into force when I did the initial search, to flag up that this name was not allowed to be seen on a simple search?

Anyone any ideas?

See the FAQ's on SP for an answer to that particular problem;

Thanks Wilma,

I suppose the sensible thing would have been for me to check on SP before posting - doh!

The thing was that I was hoping for some sort of revelation - this woman has led me a merry dance and the phrase "not permissable" seemed to flag up some sort of mystery. There still is a mystery, and I am now even further away from solving it.

Thanks again.
