Jessie Anderson Findlay --Death Record

Post by frances » Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:12 am

Trying to find the death of Jessie Anderson Findlay (maiden name Sutherland)

Jessie married Robert Findlay in 1849 in Latheron, they have two children (1850 and 1851) he subsequently marries Isobel Mavers in 1861. On his marriage certificate to Isabel Robert is described as a widower.

Can find no trace of Jessie's death between 1851 and 1861 :(

Any help much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Frances :)

Hi Frances,

Yes, I did look at them ( or at least I looked but didn't open them up individully). None were in the right area and I thought ( rightly or wrongly )that her death would have been reg under her married name of Findlay :? . Maybe someone could put me right on that.

Thanks for your help

Frances :)

In Scotland a married woman's death is registered in both maiden and married name (and even other married names).

When searching for a married female's death, I always search on the maiden name and also enter the married name in the box "other names".

Hi Frances

It looks like there are no OPR deaths recorded for Latheron at all.
http://www.scotlandspeoplehub.gov.uk/pd ... -1to56.pdf
38. LATHERON*
38/1
B 1740-1819 M 1755-1819 D -
38/2
B 1820-54 M - D -
38/3
B - M 1820-54 D -

So if your Jessie (could also turn up as a Jane, Janet or Jean) died before 1855, then it seems likely that there will be no record of it. Maybe worth checking to see if there are any MIs for the area, if you have not done so already. And this web site: http://www.graven-images.org.uk/index.htm

Best wishes
Lesley

Thank you Lesley,

Had a look at the link , no sign of Jessie. Will look for other MI's for the area.
