Hello Dennis,
Check this site for surname Airth leaving in 1950 for New Zealand and you’ll find what looks like Elspeth and four kids. http://www.ancestorsonboard.com/
Check this NZ BMD site and you’ll find Tommy’s death https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.go ... e%3Ddeaths
Hope that helps,
Alan

Hi Alan,
I was looking on FindMyPast and thought I saw him by himself leaving Southampton on the Atlantis on July 29/1949 to New Zealand as a Motor Engineer.
I'll have a look at the ones you listed:)
regards. dennis
Cannot see Elspeth & any bairns.

Hello Dennis,
Like Alan said there is a death for Tommy and it looks like he arrived in New Zealand in time to be on the 1949 Electoral Roll for Wanganui, presuming it is the right person.
If you do a free search on ancestry you will find them both on electoral rolls in and around the Auckland and Bay of Plenty areas.
There are only TWO Airth's in the telephone listing for the whole of New Zealand so chances are if they had a Son they are related.

Hi Maureen,
Is there a sample of a blank printout of a death so that I can see what info it contains as compared to the death certificate?
regards. dennis

Hi Dennis,
I found a reference to his death on a Memory Tree site that looks like he died around 2000.
No public details so you would have to follow it through by emailing them .
Because he died outside the cut off date of 50 years he won't be accessable unless you request and pay for certificate from Govt.

This site has cemetries that may help.Free search.

Hi Alan & Maureen,
Found the wife and kids on the SS Tamaroa in 1950. Was surprised to see that the 1st born had died back in Forfar and that they had probably waited for wee Wilma to show up before leaving.
many thanks:) dennis

Back again Dennis,
There’s possibly one of those young passengers here. Right name and probably about the right age. Some of those kids must be standing on something. http://www.oldfriends.co.nz/Institution ... x?id=55138

Hi Alan;
Brilliant!! I managed to contact the younger brother by emailing the closest public library to the phonebook for that area and they got in touch with him and he replied:) I've asked him about the photo and I should be able to let you know if it is who we think it is:)
regards. dennis

Hi Alan,
You were spot on:) The younger brother had never seen that photo before; he did say that both his dad and brother had both passed about 10 years ago, but the mom is still about:)
